Dr Jonah Aiyabei has been elected chairperson of the Institute of Certified Investment and Financial Analysts (ICIFA) during its 2019 Annual General Meeting held on June 28, 2019 in Nairobi. Prior to his new position, Dr Aiyabei was the vice chairman of ICIFA, having served in the position since June of 2016.

He succeeds Job Kihumba after expiry of his term as chairperson of the Institute. Other Council members elected at the AGM were Einstein Kihanda, Leah Nyambura and Dr Duncan Elly Ochieng’. 

 Dr Aiyabei is the Director of Morendat Institute of Oil and Gas, Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC), having been the Trust Secretary of KPC Pension Schemes. He has over 16 years of experience as a trainer in finance and investment and also serves as a council member of Mount Kenya University.

Mr James Wanyama has been appointed the Institute of Pension Management’s executive director. Mr Wanyama is a member of the Institute of Human Resource Management and holds a practising licence. He is also a Certified Human Resource Professional with experience in overseeing programmes development, training preparation, implementation, supervision, examination management, policy formulation, budgetary control, exam management and program marketing.

Mr Wanyama has over 10 years experience and has previously worked for Oshwal College as the head of Business Department and College of Human Resource Management as deputy principal. He is currently a PhD candidate in Human Resource Management at Kenyatta University. 

CarePay Ltd (Kenya) has appointed Moses Kuria as managing director and Dr Torooti Mwirigi as commercial director. Mr Kuria was previously CarePay’s finance and operations director and has helped raise Sh700 million in investment in the company over the last three years and overseen the expansion of the Kenya team from 38 to 97 people.

The team is running services and payments for over four million people and 1,200 healthcare facilities registered on M-TIBA in Kenya. Dr Mwirigi was previously the project director and Agile coach at CarePay. He was responsible for overseeing development projects on the M-TIBA platform. Kuria and Mwirigi are replacing Kees van Lede and Maarten Ras respectively who have been appointed by CarePay International into roles.
