Cold weather, varying levels of rainfall to continue in parts of the country- Weatherman

The Kenya Meteorological Department has said that many parts of the country will continue experiencing cold weather and varying intensity of rainfall in the next few days.

According to the weatherman, low mean temperatures below 15?C will be experienced in Nakuru, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Murang’a, Narok, Kiambu, Nairobi, Machakos, Trans Nzoia, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Kericho, Nyamira, Bomet, Kisii Counties and Mt. Kenya region.

However, parts of the North-Eastern region, Eastern and Coastal region will experience slightly higher temperature albeit below 30?C. They include areas like Marsabit, Wajir, Isiolo, Garissa, Tana River and some parts of Kitui, Kilifi, Kwale, Taita Taveta and Kajiado Counties.

Other parts of the country will experience moderate temperature ranging between 25-30?C. The areas are Mandera, Samburu, Turkana, Baringo, Kwale, Lamu, Mombasa, Taita Taveta, Makueni, Narok, Migori, Homa Bay, Busia, Kisii, Kisumu, Kakamega, Nyamira, Vihiga, Meru and Embu Counties.

The weatherman further states that varying levels of rainfall will be experienced in some parts of the country with Rift Valley region registering higher intensity.

It notes: “Heavy Rainfall above 70 mm is expected over most parts of Laikipia, Baringo, Samburu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu and Nakuru Counties.”

“Light rainfall 10-50 mm is expected over some parts of Busia, Kakamega, Nandi, Vihiga, Kericho, Bomet, Nyamira, Kisii, Kisumu, Nyeri, Tharaka-Nithi, Marsabit and alone the coastal areas.”

 “Moderate rainfall between 50-70 mm is expected over some parts of Meru, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Nakuru, Kericho, Bungoma, Turkana and Samburu Counties.”

However, the other parts of the country such as Nairobi, Kiambu, Embu, Machakos, Kitui, Tana River, Kajiado, Narok, Migori, Makueni, Embu, Garissa, Wajir, Isiolo, Taita Taveta and Mandera are expected to remain dry.
