Beating off fear to embrace the path of wealth creation

Financial Standard

By Ken Monyoncho

Saving and investing or setting up a personal budget is not a comfortable proposition to most people for the first time.

But, after a while, they get used to it and wonder what they had feared.

When I began keeping a record of my expenses on a daily basis it was uncomfortable and difficult. Three months later, it became part of me and I do it regularly.

Many people think of getting rich. They devise various ways of achieving their targets. While some meditate regularly, others have affirmations on being rich.

In each of these, the challenge is that thinking without action cannot lead to riches.

Shun fear

Experts in personal finance advocate for action. It is like the bridge between the inner world and the outer world.

However, the fear of the unknown is the greatest impediment to being wealthy.

They also argue that taming fear and taking action is possible, despite the numerous hurdles one must overcome.

Your action in pursuit of wealth should not be tagged easy or convenient. The easy route is left for the poor and middle class persons, they add.

Facts show that rich people beat off fear while the poor allow it to stop them in their quest for wealth. But, as creatures of habit, we need to practice and overcome this threat to acquiring wealth.

Usually, a manifestation of result is because of action that is triggered by thought.

Action will require a move from the zones of comfort to the uncomfortable ones. If you learn to be uncomfortable with the comfort zone you have the impetus to increase wealth.

The move is difficult, though, and has left many people live mediocre lifestyles. Suppose you are living at 50 per cent of your life potential and you want to move to 100 per cent, above that is your discomfort zone. For you to move up to 100 per cent, you must move through the discomfort zone, which most people avoid.

Staying in the cocoon of comfort will make you feel good but it will not allow you to grow.

HABITS

Managing your mind

Since man is a creature of habit, the need to practice in spite of inconvenience and discomfort that accompanies brave ventures, even when you are not in the mood, is paramount.

This is why training and managing your mind is the most important skill you could ever own to achieve the desired happiness and success. It is a fact that our minds are notorious in making up operas that may never happen. Once you nip fear in the bud you will be ready to move to the next level.

To achieve this, you need to divide your thoughts into empowering and disempowering ones. Then replace those that are disempowering with supportive ones. How?

You have the natural ability to cancel thoughts that do not support your intentions and actions.

From today, choose how you will think. Do not let your thoughts run you. Run your thoughts. Be the captain of your ship.
