CBK appeals decision cancelling new currency printing tender

Central Bank of Kenya

Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has appealed a decision to cancel the tender for printing new currency notes.

Through lawyer Ochieng Oduol, CBK said it was dissatisfied with Justice George Odunga’s decision and urged the Court of Appeal to restore the Sh10 million annual contract with De La Rue.

“Take notice that CBK is dissatisfied with part of the judgement and intends to appeal against four declarations made by the court,” he said.

The bank is contesting Mr Odunga’s declaration that the tender was unlawful, his decision to quash the tender award, the order compelling it to re-evaluate all tender bids and the order to pay activist Okiya Omtatah costs for filing the case.
