Police have arrested four men accused of attacking and raping a 60-year-old woman and her 14-year-old granddaughter.

They are believed to be part of a seven-man gang that attacked the duo on Thursday night. The victim narrated how the seven youthful men ordered her to strip naked before gang-raping her.

"I woke up at about 1.45am only to find men armed with pangas around my bed. The attackers revealed that they had been sent to finish my grandchild," she said.

She continued: "They demanded cash and when I told them I did not have any, they pounced on me and defiled me as the girl watched in horror. They then raped my grandchild as I watched. I tried to scream but they held a panga on my neck and threatened to kill me if I alerted neighbours," she said.

Shinyalu OCPD Joseph Chebii said the suspects will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.

Residents have urged the police to heighten security saying rape cases are on the rise.
