KVDA targets airlines, hotel industry with new honey packages

Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) has launched new packages for their acacia organic honey that attracted international interest during the 2013 Brand Kenya showcasing in Netherlands.
During the launch in Eldoret, KVDA Managing Director David Kimosop said the new 20 and 150 grammes' packages are tailor made for airlines, hospitals and hotel industries, explaining that previous packs did not address the needs of the lucrative industries as they were more bulky.
"For a long time we have had bigger packages that are not suitable for those traveling via air but we believe this new packages are portable and easy to apply and will appeal to clients in this sector," explained Kimosop.
According to Kimosop, the 20 grammes package that retails at Sh30 is suitable for single use in hotels and hospitals because they help reduce wastage of the scarce but very nutritious commodity.
"Some clients would either apply a lot of honey on bread or drinks but the 20 grammes package is sufficient for a cup of tea or porridge while the 150 grammes package is suitable for application on a loaf," he added.
Eldoret International Airport manager Peter Wafula lauded the new strategy by KVDA to target airlines, saying the liquid carriage regulations on flights are restrictive to bulky amounts.
