Mum, 25, has septuplets in remarkable natural birth with six girls and one boy

A new mother delivered a remarkable seven babies in a single natural birth with all the children reportedly in perfect condition and doing well.

The startling birth occurred at a hospital in the Diyali Province of eastern Iraq in what is believed to be the first septuplet delivery in the country.

Firas Al Izzawi, a spokesman for the local health department, said in a statement that the 25-year-old mother, who has not been named, had a natural birth and was healthy after the procedure.

Local media has since published https://cdn.standardmedia.co.ke/images of the infants, who are being celebrated nationwide.

Last year a mother at the Saint George University Hospital in Lebanon gave birth to sextuplets, three girls and three boys, all of whom survived the birth.

The children's father Youssef Fadl said that he and his wife had not been considering having more children and they now have 10 youngsters to look after.

The McCaughey septuplets were born to Kenny and Bobbi McCaughey in Des Moines, in the state of Iowa, in the United States in 1997 and were the world's first set of surviving septuplets.
