HARARE - Zimbabwe’s biggest teachers’ union said on Tuesday its members would go on strike over pay from February 5, putting pressure on President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government on the eve of crunch wage negotiations with public sector unions.

The unions on Monday gave government a 48-hour ultimatum to make a new salary offer or face a job boycott, raising the prospect of more unrest following this month’s violent protests that were met by a brutal security crackdown.
