Shock as fire guts seven-roomed house

A family of ten spent the night in the cold on Wednesday after a fire razed their seven-roomed house.

The owner of the semi-permanent house, Cecilia Laban, said everything was destroyed in the inferno. She said she had stepped out of the house before noticing smoke before the fire broke out. "Everything was reduced to ashes.

Not even documents were saved. Neighbours who responded to our distress calls tried to put out the fire but were overwhelmed," said Laban. She appealed for help to rebuild the house
