StarTimes Media has announced the roll-out of a new business unit that marks the entry of StarTimes digital TV sets in the Kenyan market.

This opens up a new line of business for the company, which will complement the pay television offering it has operated for the past five years in addition to that of decoders and projector TVs.

The TVs come in 24, 32 and 40-inch sizes that will retail at Sh18,999, Sh26,499, and Sh38,999 respectively. StarTimes Vice-President Mark Lisboa said yesterday the company has progressively invested in research and development, which are key in introducing competitive products from the latest technology.

“At StarTimes, our commitment to research and development is unwavering. We continue to explore ways and means to not only introduce the latest technology in the market but also provide affordable solutions,” he said.

Key features of the firm’s digital TV sets include the ability to receive both satellite and terrestrial TV signals without connecting to an external set top box.
