Uber Kenya has launched an updated version of its taxi-hailing application. The updates are part of efforts to make users’ interactions with its app simpler.
Among other upgrades, the app features a ‘Where to’ function that flips the script on interaction by asking for a destination.
‘Where to’ will now be at the core of users’ experience with the app. Uber Kenya hopes this will save time by automatically using geo-location to find out where they are.
This feature also comes with upfront pricing that enables users to know how much a trip will cost ahead of time. The app offers a feature that provides the location of the people and sets this as a trip destination.
The feature works with contacts in one’s phonebook who have given the Uber app permission to share their destination. On the productivity and entertainment front, the updated app integrates rides with Uber Eat, enabling users to order food during a trip and have it ready by the time they get to their destination.
It also carries Snapchat filters, which is expected to appeal to the younger demographic that has adapted the popular image messaging app.
