Nandi council of elders (Kaburwo) has lauded Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) commissioners for reconciling with their chairman Bethwel Kiplagat.

Kaburwo elders from Nandi Central district led by their vice chairman Nelson Keino said the reconciliation is a positive mark that indicated TJRC team is ready to serve Kenyans with dedication.

It is a wise move that has shed a positive light on the commission that they have respected the judiciary and resolve to work as a team."

Keino who was speaking to The Standard in Kapsabet said Kaburwo elders are satisfied and happy after they learnt that justice minister Eugene Wamalwa announced that the reconciliation has been attained.

The reconciliation substantiates one of the key objectives of the commission that there is need to forgive and work together as a nation," he said

The elders called on Kenyans to embrace the spirit of reconciliation and forgiveness, which they said had been shown by the commission.

"Kenyans should learn from the TJRC commission that we should forgive each other of wrongs we commit. We are happy that the commissioners have accepted to work together with Kiplagat after he was acquitted by court," Keino said.

Earlier, Kiplagat had said that he was ready to work with his commissioners after he had been acquitted by court over charges concerning his past conduct.

During the launch of Nandi County political code of conduct in Kapsabet, the Chairman had said that he has no grudge with the commissioners but was ready to reconcile and execute the duties of the commission together.

Kiplagat had called on the commissioners to "heed the verdict of the judiciary" that he was not guilty of the charges that he had been accused of.
