Mama Sarah Obama, the grandmother of US President Barack Obama has been invited to Saudi Arabia by King Abdalla bin Abdul Aziz.

In a letter seen by The Standard, Sarah and five members of her family will be special guests of the King.

During the visit that coincides with the annual pilgrimage (Hajj) in Mecca, Sarah will be among the first of millions of Muslims worldwide who will perform the Hajj rituals in line with the teachings of Islam.

The head of the delegation Sheikh Musa Ismail of Jamia Mosque Kisumu confirmed yesterday that the team would depart tomorrow for the special visit. Sheikh Musa also said Sarah is expected to hold meetings with a cross section of leaders of the Saudi government.
