The Commonwealth Games 800m defending champion Wycliffe Kinyamal made it through to the men's finals yesterday.
Running in heat three Kinyamal finished second in 1:48.15seconds to earn an automatic qualification for the final slated for Sunday.
Englishman Ben Pattisonwon claimed the heat in 1:48.00sec.
However, it was the end of the road for Cornelius Tuwei and Elias Ngeny.
Tuwei finished fourth in 1:48.86 in heat two which was won by Australian Peter Bol in 1:47.0sec while Ngeny settled third in heat one in 1:48.53secs to exit the Games.
Ngeny's heat was won by Jamie Webb of England who timed 1:48.86secs ahead of Guy Learmonth of Scotland who came second in 1:49.15sec.
Meanwhile, the Africa 400 metres bronze medallist Veronica Mutua qualified for the 400m semifinal after finishing fourth in heat two in 53.02secs.
Canadian Kyra Constantine won the heat in 52.02secs.
Former Commonwealth Games 400m champion Christine Ohuruogo of England won heat one in 52.34sec with Sada Williams from Barbados bagging heat three.
Ama Pipi from England claimed heat four in 52.58secs as World Championships 800m bronze medallist Mary Moraa from Kenya finished last in 58.51sec.
At the same time, 800m World Champion Emmanuel Korir was disqualification yesterday despite winning his heat.
He was disqualified for lane infringement, stepping on the line in the sixth of seven heats.
