The medals which will be used in this summer's Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio have been revealed by organisers.
In total, 2,488 medals have been produced, 812 gold, 812 silver and 864 bronze, each weighing 500 grams.
The gold medals are all free from mercury, while the silver and bronze are 30 per cent made from recycled materials.
Laurel leaves are prominent on the medals, a sign of victory in Ancient Greece, surrounding the Rio 2016 logo.
The podiums on which athletes will receive their medals are made from organic materials in line with the eco-friendly theme of the Games.
