The teaser trailer for "Mufasa: The Lion King" has been released, sparking excitement among fans eager for a return to the iconic world of Pride Rock.

This movie, set to be a prequel to the beloved 1994 film "The Lion King," is made with photoreal computer-generated imagery.

It's bringing back some familiar voices from the 2019 remake, like John Kani as Rafiki, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, Donald Glover as Simba, and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala.

And there's a new addition to the cast from the Carter family—Beyoncé's daughter, 12-year-old Blue Ivy Carter, voices Kiara, Simba and Nala's daughter.

The film is directed by Barry Jenkins, known for "Moonlight."

It's diving into the backstory of Mufasa and his early days with his brother Scar.

In the trailer, we hear Rafiki's voice saying, "This story begins far beyond the mountains and the shadows, on the other side of the light. A lion was born without a drop of nobility in his blood. A lion who would change our lives forever."

Then, we see a young Mufasa.

The official description says, "Mufasa: The Lion King enlists Rafiki to relay the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa lending their signature schtick. Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka — the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny — their bonds will be tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe."

Speaking at the US breakfast show Good Morning America, Jenkins said Beyoncé role was that of a “mum first” on set while Blue Ivy was “professional.”

"They just approached it that they both wanted to perform and do the best they could. And yet, they didn't have to pretend very much because they really are mother and daughter,” said Jenkins.

Other stars in the film include Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Taka, Thandiwe Newton as Taka’s mother, Eshe, Anika Noni Rose as Mufasa’s mother, Afia, and Keith David as Mufasa’s father, Masego.

"Mufasa: The Lion King" will hit the theaters starting December 20.

Last year, Blue Ivy made headlines when she joined her mom onstage during the Renaissance tour.

She's already got a Grammy under her belt for the music video "Brown Skin Girl," by her mom.

Speaking of Grammy wins, Beyoncé herself holds the record for the most Grammys ever, with 32 wins.

"The Lion King," directed by Jon Favreau, was a massive hit at the box office, making $192 million in its first weekend in the US and Canada and raking in over $1.5 billion worldwide.
