They became the first ever Kenyans to sing the US national anthem at an NBA league game, receiving a standing ovation and setting the pace for a rise in American show business.

Moipei sisters Mary, Magdalene and Marta arrived in the country Sunday morning after over 20 flight hours from Texas for a series of concert performances with their younger sister Seraphine. They will start with one in Karen tomorrow evening.

And Muthaiga Club will host them on Wednesday as they set the mood for the Christmas festivities with an arrangement of renditions to some popular carols. "We have been waiting to come for a long time. We can't wait anymore to meet fans and friends," said Mary on arrival at JKIA wearing a Santa Claus hat.

Magdalene said she was happy to be home.

"We are going to present a mixed array of music. You have to be there to enjoy it," she said.

"I am just elated to find everyone well. I can't believe I am here again. I can't wait to go on stage and perform for our fans," said a jovial Marta.

The triplets left Kenya mid last year on full scholarships to pursue professional degrees in music and related courses.

Magdalene said Kenyans will be treated to a brand new Christmas instrumental with her on the clarinet, Mary on the flute and Marta playing the trumpet.

"Welcome back and bring the joy that you always shared with the rest Kenyans," was the message Seraphine gave.

Their father and the director of the quartet said he was excited about the prospects of the Christmas homecoming.

"Last year the girls enjoyed their Christmas with President Mengler of the university and it will be joyful to have them celebrate Christmas at home this time," he said.

Mr Moipei is also the chairman of the Kenya Music and Cultural Festival and director of the Jumuiya ya Mashariki festivals.

"This is one of the happiest moments of my life in recent times, to reunite with the girls after one and a half years," said their mother, Christine.
