NHIF announces new management team after competitive recruitment

The National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) has announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer and six directors to lead the transition of the Fund into its successor.

The Board of the NHIF made the announcement on Thursday October 5, 2023, after conducting a competitive and open recruitment process.

The new CEO is Elijah Wachira, who will be joined by six directors who will oversee various functions of the Fund.

Hazel Koitaba was appointed as the Director of Beneficiary and Provider Management, while Ibrahim Mohamed Alio became the Director of Corporate Services.

Mr. Pariken Ole Sankei is the new Director of Internal Audit, and Catherine Mungania is the new Corporation Secretary and Director of Legal Services.

 Robert Ingasira was appointed as the new Director of Financial Services, and Martin Ayoo is the new Director of Information and Communication Technology.

The Board Chairman, Eng. Michael Kamau, congratulated the new management team and expressed confidence in their ability to transform the Fund.

“The new management team brings onboard invaluable wealth of experience that will immensely contribute to the transition of the Fund into its successor,” he said in a statement.

The new NHIF boss will serve for a three-year term with the possibility of one final extension at the end of the period while the Directors will hold the positions for a five-year term each and they will be eligible for re-appointment at the end based on performance.
