The Supreme Court has thrown out an appeal challenging the election of Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi.

The apex court decision affirmed the Court of Appeal ruling on July 24 and dismissed a petition by the governor's rival, Hassan Mohamed, seeking to challenge his victory in the last General Election.

''We find no justifiable reasons to interfere with the Ruling of the Court of Appeal. Consequently, the Appeal Petition dated July 31, 2023, is struck out. The detailed reasons for this judgment will be issued on notice," ruled the Supreme Court.

''As leaders, it is time to put the 2022 elections behind us and work for the Wajir people. Many thanks to the residents of Wajir County who braved the scorching sun on Election Day to ensure we won together and restore hope," said the Governor.
