Kenya Bureau of Standards staff warned against malpractices

Head of Public Service Felix Koskei has warned Kenya Bureau of Standards (KBS) staff against involvement in malpractices that could endanger the lives of Kenyans.

Mr Koskei said anyone who will be caught involving in any kind of corruption will carry their own cross.

He said corruption has caused the entry of substandard and dangerous goods into the country even as the government misses out on revenue at the border points.

''Go back to your factory settings and make a difference. You can do this by going back to the laws and manuals that you have in your various departments, do what is right,'' said Koskei.

During the visit, he launched a KEBS self-service application that will do verification of quality marks, identification of its staff, and lodging complaints.

At the same time, he lauded KEBS for developing the application and urged them to link their payment platforms to e-citizen ahead of the June 30 migration.

KEBS acting Managing Director Esther Ngari said their aim is to improve efficiency and transparency.

''We are on a digital transformation journey to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability in KEBs processes,'' she said.

Earlier in the week, Koskei visited Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), where he shared the same message with its staff.
