President William Ruto is set to launch the Digital Innovation Lab at Kisii National Polytechnic and other development projects during his three-day South Nyanza tour.

The facility will foster innovation, providing a platform for youth to access digital jobs through technology. This marks the second digital lab launched by the President, following the one at Kabete Technical.

President Ruto will visit Nyamira County on Thursday, March 23, Kisii on Friday, and Kuria on Saturday.

Chief Administrative Secretary nominee and former Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, who is coordinating the tour, said that the President will inaugurate several projects in the region.

"He will also attend the homecoming of Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu. We invite all our leaders and locals to the meetings regardless of their political affiliation," Mr Maangi said.

Businessman and politician Charles Matoke, who is part of the organising team, emphasized the tour's focus on the region's development agenda. He said Ruto had committed to funding national government projects for the community's benefit.

West Mugirango MP Steve Mogaka recently called for united efforts in seeking government support to expedite the proposed industrial park, Sironga airport, and improvements to roads and schools.

He urged Nyamira residents to attend the events, highlighting the significance of the industrial park's launch in creating employment opportunities.

Former Kisii Governor James Ongwae, an ally of opposition leader Raila Odinga, said that politics should not create enmity among leaders. "We have a fairly young President who should be given time to deliver some of the development projects."
