Senior DCI officer found dead in Nyamira

Police in Nyamira County are investigating an incident where the body of a senior Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer was found at the base of a cliff.

According to a police report, the body of Isaac Thiaka, a Sub County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO), was found 50 meters from the base of the 100ft Manga cliff having been blocked by a tree.

The report says that Thiaka was in the company of another police officer, who excused himself to lower the National and Police flags, after walking for a few meters the officer noticed Thiaka was missing.

The officer then heard screams from a woman who was collecting firewood. When the officers rushed to the direction where the screams were coming from they found the body of Thiaka on the cliff which is located 200 meters from his workstation.

The police report says that his body had a deep cut on the right side of the head and there were traces of blood from the base of the Cliff.

The deceased's body has been moved to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
