Nairobi Archdiocese Auxiliary Bishop David Kamau has been appointed as the Apostolic Administrator of the Nakuru Catholic Diocese.

Kamau now steps in to fill in for Rev Maurice Muhatia, who was today, March 19 installed as the Kisumu Catholic Archbishop.

“Kamau’s appointment follows the installation of Archbishop Maurice Muhatia as the new archbishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Kisumu, the immediate former Bishop of Nakuru,” the Nairobi Archdiocese said in a statement.

The announcement was made by the Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya and South Sudan Hubertus Van Megen during Muhatia’s installation at the Tumsifu centre in Kisumu.

Until now, Kamau served as the Auxiliary Bishop at the Nairobi Archdiocese.

He was in last year January appointed as the Apostolic Administrator Nairobi Archdiocese, following the retirement of Cardinal John Njue.

Kamau was ordained a priest in January 1982.
