Wiper, KANU, ANC, and Ford Kenya leaders have vowed to hit the ground running after the measures announced to curb coronavirus infections are eased by the government.

Speaking during a joint presser at Serena Hotel, the leaders led by Senator Moses Wetangula of Ford Kenya said that the just concluded by-elections in various parts of the country is a clear indication of what is to come in 2022 during the general elections.

“Today we mark the beginning of a journey to unite all Kenyans and it is clear that the county is keen on a new transformational agenda that not only unites Kenyans but also creates greater inclusivity,” Wetangula said.

At the same time, Wetangula thanked Jubilee’s support during the senatorial by-election in Machakos and promised to return the favor in the forth-coming by-elections, inviting other political leaders to join the alliance

KANU party leader Gideon Moi echoed Wetangula’s sentiments adding that they will throw their weight behind any Jubilee candidate who will be fronted in the forth-coming by-elections.

“The reciprocations that we are going to show Jubilee is in return for what they have done to us, we have candidates in the various forth-coming elections but we have all agreed to pull them out of the race in order to give the Jubilee a head start,” Gideon, who is also the Baringo Senator, announced.

On his part, Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka said the One Kenya Alliance is keen on inclusivity and condemned the Senate Parliamentary Group meeting that kicked out Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala yesterday as the Senate Deputy Minority leader.

“We will not field a candidate in the Juja, Bonchari, and Garissa by-elections and we will throw our support behind the Jubilee candidates” Kalonzo announced.

Malala’s ouster was also raised by ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi who took issue with the Kakamega Senator's removal. “I want to announce here that Malala is with us. In politics, these are some of the sacrifices that are made, to underpin the need for justice for freedom for democracy, so Senator Malala is not alone, there are many Kenyans who stand with him and this is not about tokenism, we must move away from politics of blackmail” he said.

In the March 4 mini polls, the alliance won seats in Matungu and Kabuchai constituencies through ANC and Ford Kenya, respectively, and in Kitise/Kithuku Ward seat, Makueni County, which went to a Wiper candidate.

Also in attendance was the Governor of Kajiado, Joseph Ole Lenku, and former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, among others.
