The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) has accommodated the views of the residents to make the referendum acceptable.

Senate Majority Whip Irungu Kang’ata said he was convinced that views from Mt Kenya region that the BBI should include Guaranteed Minimum Return (GMR) prices have been captured.

Speaking at St James All Martyrs Cathedral ACK Church in Murang’a town, during the funeral service of businessman Kamotho Wamaguru, he said he was convinced the document will help the nation to move forward.

Kang’ata was a week ago appointed to lead BBI campaigns in the Mt Kenya region.

He added that BBI has considered additional constituencies in the Mt Kenya region, which the Andrew Ligale committee ignored.

“The MCAs have also gained as the Governors are free to appoint them to serve as County Executive Committee Members. Ward representatives will also have a ward fund kitty,” said the senator.

Last year, Kang’ata introduced a motion in the senate to create a ward fund for the MCAs.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga officially kickstarted the BBI signature drive at KICC and asked Kenyans to append their signatures as the document would go a long way in uniting the nation.
