One of Britain’s youngest Coronavirus victims identified as 22-year-old university student from Africa

One of Britain’s youngest coronavirus victims has today been named as a 22-year-old university student.

Kapalu Musenyesa was discovered lifeless in his north London flat after succumbing to the deadly bug.

The young man, who was from Zambia, was studying at Middlesex University.

His devastated family were understood to have flown from southern Africa for their son’s funeral yesterday.

Friends said Mr Musenyesa - known as Kaps - was discovered dead on April 20, just hours after complaining about fever and breathing difficulties.

Family friend Agnes Mutale wrote on a page raising funds for the funeral: “Kapalu, a 22-year-old international student from Zambia, was found dead in his room.

Mr Musenyesa is reported to be the fourth Zambian national to die in the UK. Three others are said to be in intensive care units.

Friend Chabala Kakungu wrote on Facebook : “I never pictured myself wearing a mask but after Covid-19 took my brother Kapalu Musenyesa I think it’s time we took this whole thing seriously.

“Stay home or wear a mask if you want to step out and make sure you wash your hands every chance you get.”
