Train yourself to stay at home before it gets to a point when you will have to — Mutahi Kagwe

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Thursday asked Kenyans to train themselves to stay at home unless it is absolutely necessary to move around.

The cases of Coronavirus in Kenya are past the 100 mark with the CS announcing that the country now has 110 cases.

Three deaths have occurred so far and the Ministry of Health has warned that the number of positive cases is likely to grow significantly.

“Train yourself to stay at home before push comes to shove and you will have to,” said Kagwe.

Adding: “I do not want to scare you but with the figures I have just read to you, the number is likely to rise.”

The CS pleaded with Kenyans to change their behavior and attitude for the country to contain the transmission of the virus.

He also hinted that the government is considering announcing stiffer measures to deal with the disease.

Bodaboda riders and their passengers were instructed to wear protective masks and those using matatu were also told to do the same.

The CS also opined on the reaction of a section of Kenyans to the recoveries of Brenda Cherotich and Brian Orinda, saying he was saddened that some made a mockery of the breakthrough.

“It is shocking that some have decided to make fun and brand our efforts a PR exercise! Really?

“Why would the government, collaborating with International Organisations play games with a disease that has caused so much global destruction on the lives of the people?” he asked.

Kagwe also called upon security agencies to arrest all those who were propagating malice via social media.
