Two women have been quarantined at Kerugoya Referral Hospital isolation ward in Kirinyaga County with Covid-19 like symptoms.

County Director of Health George Karoki said blood samples have already been taken to the Kenya Medical Research Institute laboratories for testing.

“The two patients have been quarantined in the hospital isolation ward, and are being monitored by medics as we wait for results,” said Karoki on Thursday evening.

He said both women hail from Kirinyaga but one has been living in Rongai, Nairobi.

Following the announcement by Governor Anne Waiguru that preventive measures would be deployed across the county, the devolved unit has donated 100 small water tanks at designated areas to help locals wash their hands frequently.

The county also has set up isolation wards in Kimbimbi, Kianyaga, and Sagana that are manned by trained medics who would respond in case a Covid-19 case being reported.
