Residents woke up and found the lifeless body of Jedidah Gathoni Wahome lying in a pool of blood in her timber-walled house.

Residents of Rubere village in Laikipia West have protested after a 96-year-old woman was found murdered in her house yesterday.

Residents woke up and found the lifeless body of Jedidah Gathoni Wahome lying in a pool of blood in her timber-walled house.

According to them, she had deep cuts on the head and hands. One of the neighbours said she went to check on her after she failed to wake up, only to find the door open and the mutilated body on the floor.

“It was not normal for her to wake up late and that is why we got curious. We were shocked to find the door opened and her body lying in a pool of blood. That is when we alerted security officers,” noted Mary Wanjiku, a neighbour.

She said the residents did not know the motive behind the killing as she had no grudge with anyone.

“We have lived happily with the woman and we still do not know why she was killed. We want the Government to unravel this mystery,” she lamented.

Residents have raised concerns over rampancy of crime in the area.
