Professor Ogutu Gilbert UoN lecturer found dead in his rural home

The scholarly community has been dealt a blow, following the death of one of its own Prof. Ogutu Gilbert. Gilbert has rested at the age of 78 years. He was a University of Nairobi lecturer until his demise.

Bondo Sub-County Police Commander Mr. Wafula Antony told reporters that speculations are that the deceased took his life away on Saturday night. However, the speculations are yet to be confirmed.

The late Ogutu's corpse was found in his home Yimbo Central, Bondo Sub-county by his shamba boy with his body hanging from a window in his bedroom on a cloth piece.

According to Yimbo Central local administrator, the deceased arrived at their home together with his second wife on Friday night, before the wife left on Saturday morning to Kisumu.

The shamba boy told police how Prof. Ogutu was full of health on Saturday night before he retired to bed, with no signs of sickness.

He was shocked to find his boss dead, when he went to wake him up on Sunday morning, after having warmed his water.

The body had no physical injuries as reported by the Bondo OCPD adding, "the body was moved to Bondo Sub-County Hospital Mortuary."

The police have launched investigations into the death of the renowned professor.
