Prince Harry arrives in Canada to start new stripped back life with Meghan and Archie

Beaming from ear to ear Prince Harry arrived on Vancouver Island to begin his new life with Meghan and baby Archie.

The Duke of Sussex cast a solemn figure as he left his plane late on Monday night but his face lit up as he appeared to spot his wife waiting for him in the back of the car.

The couple had been separated for 11 days before the were finally reunited after the Prince finished his final engagement as a senior royal in Britain.

A passenger onboard his Westjet flight told the Mirror the Duke looked “tired and agitated” before finally touching down at 9.47pm local time on Monday.

His return to Vancouver came just days after he and Meghan agreed a deal with the Queen to step back as senior royals.

On Monday the Prince raced through an engagement with Prime Minister Boris Johnson and African leaders before boarding a British Airways flight from Heathrow to Vancouver.

After BA85 touched down following a nine hour 17 minute flight, Harry connected onto Westjet 3185 for the 11 minute journey from the mainland onto Vancouver Island.

He had been so eager to see Meghan and Archie he ducked out of a Buckingham Palace evening reception he was supposed to be co-hosting.

Meghan had flown out to the ocean view mansion earlier this month following her and Harry's bombshell announcement they would be quitting as senior royals.

The prince, 35, had remained in the UK to carry out his remaining royal duties as well as attend a crisis summit at Sandringham with the Queen and Princes Charles and William to discuss his future.

Earlier on Monday Harry met Prime Minister Boris Johnson and world leaders at the summit in London, which is likely to be one of his few remaining official engagements before the Sussexes take their "leap of faith" and leave the monarchy in the spring.

The duke gave an emotional speech on Sunday night, saying he had "no other option" but to give up his official royal duties and forge a new life in Canada, where his wife and son are setting up home.

In the speech, Harry told invited guests: "What I want to make clear is we're not walking away, and we certainly aren't walking away from you.

"Our hope was to continue serving the Queen, the Commonwealth and my military associations, but without public funding. Unfortunately, that wasn't possible."
