Three nursing gun wounds following Kahuro raid

An armed gang shot and injured three people during a raid at Githagara village in Kahuro on Thursday night.

The gang is suspected to have been using a pistol which was robbed from a Traffic policeman.

In the first incident, the gang robbed a shop keeper of an unknown amount at 8pm.

The two bought airtime before another accomplice pointed a gun at the shopkeeper.

Victims were shot in the head, stomach and leg.

The incident at the market centre took place a day after a traffic policeman lost his loaded pistol at the Kabuta railway line.

The victims were taken to Murang’a District Hospital as police look for the gang members.

Witness Edwin Karuri recounted how a victim he was with was shot in the leg.

Those who were present during the incident are said to be helping the police identify the suspects.

After the gang escaped the villagers collected spent cartridges and handed them to Kahuro police station to assist in the identification of the gun used.

Mugoiri MCA Sospeter Nyoko said there was a need for the police to investigate fast and arrest the suspects.

“It is unfortunate that three people are nursing gun wounds following a raid at a business centre in my ward,” he said.

Murang’a County Police Commander Josphat Kinyua said the gang will be pursued.

He said the DCI team was on the ground collecting information from the residents that will aid investigations.
