Police gun down thug in Naivasha

Two people including a cleric are fighting for their lives in Naivasha sub-county hospital after they were shot in a botched robbery attempt.

During the Monday night incident in Karati village along the Naivasha-Kirima road, one suspect was gunned down by police and a pistol recovered.

The cleric and the boda boda operator are admitted in the hospital after being shot in the stomach and thigh respectively.

The incident came barely a day after police nabbed a suspect and recovered a pistol and two rounds of ammunition that had been stolen from a police officer in Kayole last year.

In the latest incident, the thugs had waylaid the pastor as he entered his house at around 11pm before a family member raised an alert.

According to Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru, the public responded to the distress call and informed security officers from the nearby Karati police post.

He said that as the thugs were fleeing using motorcycles, they shot twice at the pastor on the stomach and an operator in the thigh.

Waweru told the Standard Digital that they suspected that the same gang was behind a series of robberies in the area adding that it was a matter of time before they caught up with the others.

“The gunned down suspect has been identified as a motorcycle operator and we are closing down on his accomplices,” he said.
