Raila: I’m not behind Miguna Miguna’s problems

ODM leader Raila Odinga has no problem with Canadian-based lawyer Miguna Miguna coming back to Kenya.

Speaking at a rally in Kisii yesterday, Raila said neither he or President Uhuru Kenyatta were preventing Miguna from coming back to Kenya after he was denied jetting into the country by Lufthansa Airlines and has been in Germany since Tuesday this week, following a red alert.

“The Miguna matter is a small issue, which does not require the President or I to handle it, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i will handle that matter so that he can be back to the country and continue doing what he thinks is right,” said Raila.

The Opposition leader, at the same time, said Miguna has been abusing Kenyan leaders for some time now but nobody was bothered with him since he did not have any impact on the country’s politics.

Free country

Raila, who spoke in the presence of Matiang’i said Kenya was a free country and that nobody was ready to give Miguna unnecessary mileage, and that he would be back in the country as soon as he abides by international travel requirements.

During a telephone interview with Citizen Television on Wednesday night Miguna said he was not ready to visit any Kenyan embassy across the world to get a passport to be able to travel to Kenya, saying that he might be risking his life.

“I am not taking the advice by Government Spokesman Cyrus Oguna to visit any Kenyan embassy anywhere since it might be a trap to eliminate me.

“Remember what happened to Saudi Arabian journalist Jamal Kashoggi, who was killed,” said the controversial lawyer, who has vowed not to relent in his quest to return to Kenya.
