A Makueni clinical officer was yesterday sentenced to 12 years in prison for defiling a 14-year-old rape victim.

According to court documents, Samuel Mutisya who was in-charge of a Kathonzweni government dispensary turned against the teenage girl who had come to the facility for medical examinations after being defiled earlier by three men.

Earlier, the girl told Makueni court how Mutisya instructed her aunt that she (the girl) should just go and pick the examination results herself before committing the crime.

“My aunt took me to the hospital for examinations after defilements where I was examined. The medic then told us to come for the examination results a day later. The following day, since my aunt had given out her phone number to the officer she was called and informed that I should go and pick the results,” she told the court.

As instructed, she went for the results on February 27, 2019, but before she could arrive at the facility the Boda boda operator who was ferrying her was directed by the officer to take her to another house.

She was later dragged in, house locked from inside, defiled, and forced to take a shower.

A police officer residing in the same plot who saw the girl dragged into the house in school uniform raised the alarm leading to the suspect’s arrest.

The suspect has since then been out after paying Sh300,000 bond and a surety of the same amount.

When he appeared for sentencing before Senior Principal Magistrate James Mwaniki, Mutisya painted a picture of a person in a sorry state as he sat quietly in the courtroom.

However, the magistrate while sentencing him said the court was satisfied with the evidence provided against him.

He has 14 days to appeal.
