Private Detective denied state protection

Private Detective Jane Mugo (pictured) suffered a blow after her application to be granted State protection was dismissed.

Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku ruled that Mugo failed to give adequate details on how she wanted to be protected.

“Court ought to have received better reasons as to why State protection is sought,” added Ms Mutuku.

Mugo, through her lawyer Danstan Omari, had informed the court that her life was in danger, and therefore she needed protection.

She is facing charges of threatening to kill two people and she is out on Sh300,000 cash bail with an alternative bond of Sh500,000.

Mugo is alleged to have threatened to kill Deepa Shah Desmond at Kyuna Close, in Spring Valley last February 4, and Martin Mugusia in 2015. She has, however, denied the charges.

The prosecution had earlier requested the court to lock her up at Lang’ata Women’s Prison for her own safety.
