We will not be forced to give votes even at gunpoint — Maina Kamanda

Nominated Member of Parliament Maina Kamanda on Sunday emphasized that there is no debt owed to anyone in regards to Mount Kenya region votes.

Speaking to congregants at St Paul`s African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa in Nanyuki, Laikipia County, the legislator alleged that there are some politicians plotting to force voters in the Mount Kenya region to take a certain political direction.

The former Starehe Member of Parliament added that the Kikuyu, like other tribes in the country, have their own leader who should guide them in political matters and that is President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“We will not be forced to give you votes even at gunpoint. We also have our leaders as it is in other tribes. Our leader, Uhuru, will give us direction when the time comes,” he said.

"The only debt that mankind had, had been paid by Jesus Christ. Do not feel threatened by anyone, we do not owe anyone anything," he said.

Kamanda, who is seemingly not popular in the Mount Kenya region, was however dismissed by a rather irate crowd as he made his way to church.

Recently, Kamanda and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro made headlines for the wrong reasons after a disagreement in church.

The turnout of events led to the arrest of Nyoro.

There have been political wrangles in the Mount Kenya region between rival groups within Jubilee Party (`Kieleweke` and `Tangatanga` movements).
