Kanu will field a presidential candidate in the 2022 General Election.

Tiaty MP William Kamket said the party will have a “presidential candidate known to the people” by the time the country goes to the polls.

He said Kanu has gone around the country on a meet-the-people tour and it is evident that it has a huge following.

“We have been meeting the people and Kanu will have a presidential candidate known to you. We will have a flag bearer,” the MP said yesterday at Churo Secondary Girls in Tiaty, Baringo County.

He said the party, under which Kenya attained independence, is up to task and those claiming they have nothing are in for a rude shock.

Dismissed claims

The MP said they are yet to start campaigns, unlike other politicians and parties because Kanu’s leadership respects President Uhuru Kenyatta’s call to serve Kenyans through development.

Kamket dismissed the claims that some people are plotting to kill Deputy President William Ruto, saying the DP is only worried that he is losing political support and is seeking sympathy.

“We went to Eldoret for two days and already, some people feel their lives are in danger. They should stop crying, no one wants to harm them,” he said.

The MP said Ruto is feeling threatened that some people are gaining political mileage.

The Pokot, he said, will work with leaders who have expressed good intentions for the the community.

“As a community, we are working with leaders who are doing well for us, those who work with us are the ones we support,” he said.

He said Baringo Senator and Kanu chairman Gideon Moi will take over the country’s leadership when President Kenyatta’s term ends in 2022.
