Ruto men want CSs in ‘death plot’ out

Seven MPs allied to Deputy President William Ruto want four Cabinet Secretaries to quit over alleged plot to assassinate the DP.

They also want the details of the meeting of the four CSs that took place at La Mada hotel be made public even as the DP is yet to record his side of the story.

MPs Didmus Barasa (Kimilili), Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), Mathias Robi (Kuria West), Mohammed Ali (Nyali), Gabriel Tongoyo (Narok West), Stanely Muthama (Lamu West) and Wilson Kogo (Chemusei) questioned why development issues of Mount Kenya region should be discussed in a hotel and at night.

“Why is the development of Mount Kenya such a big secret that it must be discussed not in government offices, not during the day, not with elected leaders but in secret night meetings in hotel with selected public officials,” posed Barasa.

The leaders aligned to Tangatanga challenged the four CSs Peter Munya (Industry, Trade and Cooperatives), Joe Mucheru (ICT), Sicily Kariuki (Health) and James Macharia (Transport) to relinquish their State appointments.

Barasa demanded that the four should state whether succession politics was a subject in the meeting, whether there was any reference to any assassination of any individual in the past, now and future.

The lawmakers also want the CSs to disclose whether those who attended the meeting were threatened not to disclose its proceedings.

Munya had explained that President Uhuru gave him the responsibility to coordinate and chair the meetings so that they could hear and address the grievances of central MPs.

“We want to confirm we have been having meetings. Indeed, we had a meeting in La Mada and will continue having meetings because under the Constitution of Kenya, there is freedom of assembly and expression,” Munya added.

They also questioned why Devolution CS Mwangi Kiunjuri a Ruto ally from Mt Kenya was not invited at the meeting.

On Monday, Lawmakers allied to the ‘Kieleweke’ wing of Jubilee Party called the assassination claims as “nonsensical.” The MPs said President Uhuru Kenyatta was aware of the meetings held by four Cabinet Secretaries to chart the way forward for Mt Kenya region.
