Mt Kenya elders must stop lying to Kenyans on DP Ruto

Some powerful individuals from Central Kenya should stop wasting their resources by using elders to incite the residents against the leadership of Deputy President William Ruto.

The Deputy President has on several occasions made it clear that no individual or community owes anyone including him a political debt.

But it has now become evidently clear that some powerful individuals within government are spending sleepless nights looking for ways of inciting the residents of Central Kenya against Ruto’s presidency in 2022 election.

This is why some Kikuyu Council of Elders acting on the direction of their paymasters were telling the Deputy President over the weekend that the community does not owe him political debt.

But, surely, when has Ruto said that the Kikuyu community owes him political debt? And again, who has told these elders that Ruto is only banking on the Kikuyu community’s support alone for him to ascend to the presidency? It makes no sense for the same elders to further claim that Dr Ruto was disrespecting President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Ironically, the same elders were heaping praises on the Deputy President for helping President Kenyatta to ascend to presidency between 2013 and 2017.

What changed? What the Deputy President is doing now by touring several parts of the country to launch and inspect development projects is exactly what he used to do between 2013 and 2017.

No one criticised him then.

The elders should leave Ruto alone as no one is forcing them to support him.

It should be clear that Kenya has more than 40 ethnic groups and that it is not a one-community affair to decide who will be the next President.
