Four managers of a milk processing factory have recorded statements with the police following the death of a casual labourer.

Enock Bii, 26, died after he sustained severe burns in a milk boiler last week. He suffered to 87 per cent burns and while undergoing treatment at War Memorial Hospital.

Jonah Kiptum (security), Justus Onkoba (processing), Kennedy Kareithi (operations) and Sheila Chepkoech (safety) of Sameer Agriculture and Livestock Limited recorded statements at Salgaa Police Post in Rongai.

Rongai Sub County Police Commander Richard Rotich said detectives want to establish the circumstances under which the worker sustained the fatal burns.

There have been claims that Mr Bii had been instructed by his supervisor to clean the milk boiler but the machine was switched on immediately he got in.

The incident occurred on May 30 at around 3am at the newly built milk processing factory located at Sachangwan, Nakuru County.

Bii, an electrical engineer, worked as a yoghurt blender at the plant. He had worked for six months at the factory earning Sh349, daily.

Lawyer Winnie Lang’at on Monday gave the makers of Daima milk three days to offer a satisfactory explanation over the death to Bii’s family.
