Veteran politician Fredrick Oduya Oprong is dead. The former legislator died at the Kenyatta National Hospital where he was admitted for treatment, family sources have said.

The former Amagoro MP and Assistant Minister for Economic Planning and National Development is said to have been suffering from stroke and has battled the disease for quite some time.

The fallen retired politician was born in 1936. He was awarded the Head of State’s Commendation (HSC- Civilian Division) for his contribution towards national development.

He alongside the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga fought the colonial regime and led the championing for the release of country’s first president Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.
