Dormitory burns down at Tengecha Boys High School

By the time fire engine arrived at Tengecha Boys High School, there was nothing to be salvaged.

A dormitory at Tengecha Boys High School in Kericho County has been burnt down in a morning inferno.

Property belonging to 45 students was destroyed during the Monday 6:30am incident.

Kericho Deputy County Police Commander Patricia Nasio confirmed the incident but said she was yet to receive a comprehensive report from police officers dispatched to the school in Bureti constituency.

However, Nganaset sub location chief Mary Ruto said by the time of the incident, the students were in their classrooms for morning preps and therefore no one was hurt.

“The dormitory was extensively damaged. By the time fire engine from the county government arrived at the scene, there was nothing to be salvaged,” she said.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established.

The Tengecha Boys High School dormitory destruction comes barely two weeks after a fire incident was reported at Londiani Boys High school and St Theresa primary school.

21 students from Londiani High School were arrested over the torching of Longonot dormitory.
