Cars damaged as wall collapses during rains

Central
No casualties have been reported.

Residents in Ruaka, Kiambu County are counting losses after a portion of perimeter wall caved in with their vehicles at parking space on Tuesday morning.

An aerial view from the storey parking space showed a car buried and stuck in debris.

Residents claim the ongoing construction on the adjacent plot led to the weakening of the boundary wall whichmade itto cave in after heavy rain.

Some tenants have temporarily moved out of the building fearing that it may crumble while others are waiting for county government’s clearances.

The Kiambu County government is yet to comment on the incident.

Owners of the damaged vehicles want the owner of the neighbouring plot to compensate them.

Five vehicles were destroyed but luckily no casualties have been reported.
