Truck rams into fleet of vehicles at Mai Mahiu

Scores of motorists escaped death after a truck rammed into a fleet of vehicles on the Mai Mahiu-Limuru Road.

During the afternoon incident near the Italian Catholic Church, five vehicles were extensively damaged and three people slightly injured.

The accident occured after the truck that was going downhill developed a mechanical problem, ramming into four personal cars and a canter.

The truck that was destined for Uganda from Mombasa veered off the road and crashed near the escarpment.

Witness Jane Muthoni said the lorry that was hooting and flashing lights first hit the canter before ramming into the other cars.

"It's by the grace of God that no life was lost but few people escaped with minor injuries," she said.

Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru said the road was cleared and the wreck towed to Mai Mahiu police station.
