2019 is proving to be a good year of women. Their strengths and achievements are celebrated as loudly as their struggles are being highlighted. Time Magazine released its list of 100 most influential people and 48 out of the 100 were women, an increase from the 45 women listed last year. This is a big win for women who need as much encouragement now more than ever.
Among the women accorded this honour is former First Lady Michelle Obama whose touching tribute was written by Grammy-Award musician Beyoncé who wrote, “Loving Michelle Obama wasn’t much of a choice. It was something that came naturally, because of how she carried herself.” Beyoncé went on to praise Mrs Obama’s grace when dealing with critics and her courage in speaking about the challenges she has faced saying, “I’m honoured to know such a brilliant black woman who’s spoken about the sacrifice it takes to balance her passions while remaining a supportive partner and mother, and now a best-selling author with Becoming.”
