The Sudan Minister for Defence Awad Ibn Ouf has been sworn in as chief of new military council that takes over from the ousted leader Omar al-Bashir.

Ouf, whose oath taking was presided by Chief Justice Abdul Majid Idris on Friday morning will now head the new military junta tasked with transferring power into the hands of civilians, after spirited demo which inflicted downfall of Mr Bashir.

According to BBC, the Sudan Professional Association-an entity behind the organised protests-has urged Sudan nationals to congregate at army headquarters for Friday prayers.

The protestors on Friday defied the military’s call for night curfew, spending the night in streets of Khartoum singing in jubilation for the change after long reign of Bashir.

The US has urged Sudan military to incorporate civilians into the government. The European Union has however called for calm between the civilians, led by SPA and the military.
