A milk trader has been jailed for life for defiling an eight-year-old boy.

While sentencing the accused, Nakuru Senior Resident Magistrate Eunice Kelly said a deterrent sentence was mandatory because Hezbon Mogare’s actions were unforgivable.

“I have considered the charges and his mitigation. He is imprisoned for life for his crimes,” ruled Ms Kelly.

The magistrate said cases of sodomy had been rampant and the harsh sentence would serve as a warning to other culprits.

During the trial, the court heard that the accused, who supplied milk to the village, abused the boy several times between September 2 and 4, 2017.

The Class Three boy testified that the accused requested him to assist in carrying charcoal to his house on September 2, 2017.

He told court that the accused promised to pay Sh50 after he delivered the charcoal but gave him food and showed him pornographic videos before defiling him.

“He locked me in his house for three days. He defiled me. It was painful,” the minor said.

The minor said he escaped and neigbours took him to Njoro health centre after narrating his ordeal.

A medical report presented in court proved that the minor had been defiled.
