All the best to our able Kenyan golfers

This year’s Magical Kenya Open Golf championships teed off on Thursday with Kenyan golfers hoping to make a mark in the event, which is now part of the European Tour.

The opening day show by Simon Ngige and Dismas Indiza brought some hope that a Kenyan will at least register a good showing in the competition whose winner will be known tomorrow.

While we might be asking too much from the likes of Ngige and Indiza to go all the way and win the competition, the good show they had in the opening round should encourage them and other Kenyan golfers that it can be done. The local golfers still in the competition should also be encouraged by the good work of their compatriots and they should strive to make the cut at the end of competition today. Once we have many Kenyans making the cut, we will have a higher chance of pushing the top golfers all the way and they should not have it easy as they fight for the top prize of Sh9 million.

We also hope that despite their low ranking in the world, ourgolfers will learn a thing or two from the top professionals gracing this tournament due to its prestigious status. We also urge Kenyan golf fans to make their way to the Karen Country Club in large numbers and cheer their players on, and who knows, a Kenyan may just emerge the winner against all odds.
