Businessmen sues police officer for stealing goods worth Sh1.2m

Two businessmen accusing a police officer of carting away goods worth Sh1.2 million have been granted leave to amend their suit.

Through Lawyer Kipkoech Ng’etich, Robow Holo and Ibrahim Nurow said they wanted to amend their case to include the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Mr Holo and Mr Nurow, in a notice of motion dated February 5, 2019, had sued police officer Abdirahim Abdulahi, the County Director of Criminal Investigations, the Director of Criminal Investigations, the Inspector General of Police and the Attorney General.

They claimed the officer forcibly entered Holo’s business premise without a warrant on January 30, 2019, and took away goods worth Sh1.2 million and Sh500,000 in cash, then arrested the businessman.

They also claim the officer threatened Nurow over the case. They want the court to order the items and cash returned. They are also seeking a declaration that the officer is not fit to hold office.

The officer, through his lawyer Steve Biko, has denied taking the trader’s goods and cash.

“This is a clan issue. My client did not take a bribe and or steal any goods,” said Mr Biko.

The case will be mentioned on March 12.
